The troops line up for review...

Its great to have everyone home safe!

On Thursday, March 20, 2008, I had the honor of being part of welcoming home the B-Troop 1-158 Calavry of the Easton, Maryland National Guard. These guys have been serving our Country in Operation Iraqi Freedom since June of last year.

Members of the Biker Community, The Patriot Guards, as well as other members came out to escort the troops to their loved ones and friends. I have found many members of the Biker Community have served or been part of the Military; and almost all of them are very patriotic. I didn't do an exact head count, but I would say close to fifty came out to show their support for our Troops. Good job guys!!

From the moment I arrived at the armory, I could feel the excitment and anticipation of the crowd awaiting the arrival of our Troops. While we were waiting, I had the chance to talk to some of the people there. Along with the many family members, I found there to be many people there to simply show their support and honor for the Troops. Throughout this war and eveyrthing going on, I have realized the sacrifice the Troops have made for the sake of our Country. But after talking to some of the families of the Troops, I came to realize that having a loved one gone for so long and under these conditions is a sacrife the whole family lives through. The spirit and support of the families for their family member was amazing. One thing that was very touching was the children waiting for their Daddies to come home. There was a little boy and girl standing beside me and they kept asking is he coming? Is he coming?, little flags in their hands. The little ones, I am sure do not know ! the full extent of what is goingon, all they knew was Daddy was coming home today!! That touched my heart.

As the time for the Troops grew near, the excitement and emotions of the crowd ran high. At approximatly 4:15 p.m. we heard the sirenes of the fire trucks and emergency vehicles escorting our Troops home. as the buses pulled in, the crowd went crazy. I could see the guys faces, smiles from ear to ear. One feeling that was very strong, was the feeling of relief. I don't think there was a dry eye in the crowd. When the troops walked off the busses, and marched in form to the back, the sence of pride was overwhelming. It has been a trying, long nine months for eveyone involved; and finally they were home and on to getting back to their normal life. This was a memorable moment for all that was there to be a part of this.

I would like to send a big thank you to each and every one of these guys. The sacfices and strides they have made for our country is greatly appreciated. I would also like to say a thank you to all of their families. I know for me, as I am sure for alot, I am very proud of and thankful to all of you guys. Welcome home to you all !!
